It's human to make mistakes, nobody's perfect. However, it is more important to learn from your mistakes than to keep on going ignorantly in the wrong direction.
They attack the US because they want the occupation eradicated, entirely. Every soldier gone. Reason behind this? There's a lot, mostly vengeance and religion, but they fight for their beliefs. They don't fight to be control over their country, or for their government. That makes them terrorists, because they fight just to fight.
Take the example many people say that if the United states pulls out, Iraq goes under. Well guess what, they are still fighting with us there or not there. A country fighting against itself is not patriotic.
