Should educators be allowed to say God in school? I could understand if the topic is related which it could be in History class and other related topics. Do you think the educator has the right to say God to the class or to himself/herself? Could the student in any way be affected by the word that was spoken by the educator? Whether the word has an effect on the student or not, do you think it should be allowed?
Jesus H Tapdancing Christ.

My geography teacher said that more than I did this school year, and often in disbelief or anger. No one had a problem with it, and our town is mostly a catholic community. If you are offended at the uttering of a word, then maybe you don't deserve the right to listen to the things that are going on around you. I mean, if it comes to a point where I can't say God in school, then I am dropping out. I can understand racial slurs, but saying "Oh God!" and possibly being reprimanded or fired for it, then its over the top.

And if that is not the point of the topic, the only thing that should be against the rules in school is preaching. If I was a teacher and I stood up in front of several students and said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ or you will go to Hell." Then I'll understand that I went over the top. If Fred Phelps ever becomes an art teacher in my school, I'll make sure to have his job.
I agree with Zack in the sense that the word God should be allowed to be spoken. There is nothing religious about the word God. There is something religious about preaching what is supposedly God's words. Like he said, if the teacher started saying something along the lines of, "Praise Jesus, let me save you, you will go to hell if you are not saved, my children," I would say, "Bye Bye Teach'." However, if he is teaching and says, "and this religion believes in this God and this religion believes in that God," he should not be reprimanded or fired or any of that.
Yes, educators should be allowed to say the word "God" in school. They just shouldn't be allowed to preach.
What some of you don't realize is that God is revered and loved by (I hope) most christians. Using his name like that, just for kicks is disrespectful. And most people will say "Oh my God".

Why is it that the christian religion is always supposed to take the crap from society. Why is it not "Oh my Buddha"? or "Oh my Allah"? Or whoever else other religions worship. Oh that's right. Christians are supposed to be 'weak' and 'turn the other cheek' types. Well I hate hearing that everywhere I go. Another one is "Jesus Christ" or whatever else you people say out of carelessness. That's really frustrating!

You don't hear people blaspheming other religions and why is that? Somehow I doubt that if you said something derogatory about another religions' figure of worship, you wouldn't hear the end of it.
not saying God in schools in order to save children is like saying the Wolf should not attack or eat RedHood's grandmother, the wolf ate her grandmother and we turned out OK don't you think

plus if you don't believe in God, and you used to hear "God" in your school,
then I assure you its harmless and if you study translation which I do, you will learn how words aren't always as important as you think

thanks for the thread Peace

Of course teachers should be allowed to say God (or any other deity for that matter) in school. There's nothing wrong or immoral about mentioning any religion, deity or belief system. But what a teacher in a public school should not be allowed to do is instruct the class to pray for their god/deity as that is unfair to the students.
