There's no denying that some patients get to use marijuana to help with the pain or whatever other reason that they have. I don't know the details of it, but I do know that doctors are allowed to prescribed marijuana to their patients if they feel it is necessary. Do you believe that doctors should use Marijuana for medicinal purposes or do you believe that this drug should be kept separate from the medical world?
It does some good. Like it helps to relieve pressure in the eyes of people who suffer from glaucoma. There are a number of other medical reasons to use it. But it isn't given out to everyone because they can. It is prescribed when the other options, and there are other options, aren't as promising. I'm all for letting it be used medically. But, I also believe that within ten years it will be legal to smoke marijuana anyway. There are plenty of people who smoke it anyway, legal or not. And the affects are about the same as smoking a normal cigarette. I don't like the idea of smoking in general, but if people are going to do it anyway, legal or not, the government might as well put the dealers out of business and tax the stuff.
I definitely agree with you about that. I think that it should be one of those 'last case' scenarios when nothing else can possibly work. If no other medication can work, then it's alright to prescribe marijuana. Now, onto the point about legalizing marijuana. That brings up an entirely different point. The thing to remember is that just because a lot of people do it does not make it right. A lot of people have sex with prostitutes, that doesn't make it right. The same goes for doing other drugs. I don't know if I'd be for legalizing marijuana, but if I was, I'd definitely be for HIGH taxation on it.
It's legal for medicinal uses here in Portland, and there are talks in the local government of decriminalizing it totally within the city.

GOOD IDEA.
It is crazy to ban a natural substance which is organic, free to manufacture, you can grow it yourself! and helps people who are ill. crazy. maybe it is just drug companies trying to stop it being used, it would cut into their profits...
Someone close to me suffers from anxiety and panic attacks. She has tried practically every medication available with no results except bad. She has no choice but to obtain weed illegally because it is the only thing that helps with no adverse side effects. She has discussed it with her MD but he is dead set against it. Maybe because there are no fringe benefits in it for him?

IMO it needs to be made legal so law enforcement can concentrate on the nasty stuff. Set the potheads free and lock up the pervs!

I absolutely agree, well said. Not only would the government spend less on trying to bust dealers, but the stuff would be cheaper if mass produced. Imagine paying as much per gram for marijuana as you do the amount of baccy in a cigarette. And think of it like this: if you run a drug cartel, youre already risking getting into a SHITLOAD of trouble and serious prison time if caught, so whats killing a few people if it means keeping you in business or not getting caught? Or committing various other crimes to further your enterprise, like money laundering. Coke would probably be a better example of that idea, but hey, im sure it happens with all illegal drugs.
I don't think I need to explain where I stand on this issue.
Ok i am from a different country. Australia actually. And i smoke weed every day!!!!!.
First thing i do when i wake up and last thing i do at night. (biggest regret in live was to pick up that farkin pipe)
Dope may have some medicinal properties but i feel they should manufacture a pill containing THC rather than allowing people to smoke it which is carcinogenic so it will kill you. In my country [censored] loads of people smoke and its no big deal. But enough of it... Like 15 years of it and you turn into a couch potato, lazy [censored]. And it does have other side effects i have seen over the years in the many many mates who smoke every day like me.
Now there is also the other issue regarding dope and that is manufacture of hemp.
Now this has more merit to grow it than to get stoned or ease some ailment. I do believe dope was first banned as it was in competition with nylon production so they got dope banned. And therefor nylon took off. Hemp is a better stronger product at the end of the day. Getting stoned of it is just a waste of time.. I say that after taking a pipe break during this post...sigh....
If i could take back all the $ i have spent on herb. Man i could buy another house.
