All you need to do if you are a powerful country, which the US is, is to influence the top five countries on the UN security council... two of these countries are Russia and China, two that have a rocky relationship with the US even though we do so much business with China. So, if we bring in "information" about a suspect country/government, and we say or are told by the UN to stop them, what do you think Russia and China are going to do? LET US GO AHEAD AND KILL OURSELVES.
Do you seriously think that Israel (who wanted Iraq attacked because of their gorwing influence in the Middle East), Russia (one of the top un-free countries in the world, who still holds a grudge from the Cold War, look up pro-Putin youth movements), and China (which is following the philosophy of Deng Xiopeng to "grow quietly economically to succeed), would even think of stopping us? They, in fact, provide false information to us intentionally to get the US involved in more conflict, piss more people off, and spend more on our military than our budget allows. So then we borrow money from, you guessed it, CHINA, and rack up trillions of dollars of debt. Putin and his aides are former KGB, and have an iron grip on Russia, and China is run by the Chinese Communist Party Politburo, and will do anything to remain in power.
And, btw, what exactly is your view of "liberal"? Didn't I just say that two of the most conservative presidents ever, Taft and Reagan, were against the UN? Do you think Hillary and Barrack Obama, if either is elected president, are going to pull out of the UN anytime soon? Not only that, but they refuse to stop funding this horrible and unjust conflict. What did Clinton, a liberal Democrat do, when Somalia was taken over by the militia of Mohammad Farah Aidid? HE SENT TROOPS THERE. HE WAS LIBERAL. I never said the UN is a controlling force in the UN, obviously not if our soldiers aren't running aroung Iraq with white trucks and blue helmets on LOL.
China, who wants use in debt to them, aren't going to stop us. Not out of a need for power, but because they need money just as everyone else. Russia, oooooh, big scary KGB. What are they going to do? Capture our U.S. version of James Bond? They have almost no military influence whatsoever, and never have. Same goes for China, none of them have been very active in any warfare conflict for the past couple of decades. They hide behind their nuclear weapons, when they know full good and well that we would retaliate with nukes. If I were you, I wouldn't be scared of any sophisticated country challenging us. Its these little guys who sneak in, one by one, with their ability to sneak in weapons of mass destruction, and no, I'm not talking about a big bomb. I'm talking a small vial of a deadly virus, or say an AK - 47? Five guys go into a mall with machine guns and grenades, you're looking at a lot of 'mass destruction'.

While I do not favor the current president and his cabinet, theres not much we can do about it. He's almost out, he's going to do whatever he wants. Might as well live through it.
