I've been hearing a lot of stuff from Mike Huckabee on the internet and on television which is encouraging me to research about him some more. On the issue of marriage, he supports a federal constitution amendment that defines marriage between a man and a woman. Other various issues such as abortion which he is against and would like to support a constitutional amendment to protect the right to life, immigration which he considers a top priority because he wants us to secure the borders, economy which he supports free trade, although it has to be fair trade, etc. For more information on the issues that he supports/disagrees with, please go to http://www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction=Issues.Home

Do you think he is a better Republican candidate compared to other fellow Republicans candidates such as Rudy Giuliani, Duncan Hunter, John McCain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo, and Fred Thompson?
He bases too many of his opinions on religion. Religion is cool and it might allow for someone to have some good moral code, but to base so much on religion, I am again. There is no reason to make a constitutional amendment that says, "marriage is between man and woman." That's religious. And, personally, I don't think that this nation should be run based on religious opinions.

Although, didn't the United States of America depend on the ethics and morals of religion as a way of guiding us throughout our life in the earlier periods? Sure, time has changed but is basing it on religion that bad?

Yeah, it is. Because there's more than just Christians here now. To base anything on one man's religious beliefs benefits that one man's religion, but does not benefit every other religion. Yeah, at one time we were based on religion, but the same reason why prayer is not allowed in public schools is the same reason why I don't want a man elected who would do things for his one religion.
Do you think that the United States of America still favors a religion over the others?

I believe that religion shouldn't make a candidate's mind obscure because as you stated previously, it's just not Christians that are living in America now. Basing too much on a certain religion may not be beneficial because people might be inclined to vote for another candidate. Although, what about those people that are extremely religious and would like a candidate that uses religion on the issues he's for and against? Perhaps Mike Huckabee is gaining a certain percentage of their votes.
He is gaining their votes and that is fine to me. I won't vote for him. I don't support a man whose opinions are based on religion. Have moral beliefs and all of that, but when you're in the oval office, you cannot pick things based on religion.
