There are many cons and pros concerning school uniforms. If a school were to have a school uniform code, many students wouldn't worry about what to put on in the morning simply because they have to wear that particular uniform. If the students are wearing school uniforms, it could possibly save the parents an abundant amount of money because they wouldn't have to spend money on other clothes for school. Certain people are condescended upon at school because of the clothes they're wearing, however, if school uniforms were to put into place, the rate of the patronizing ways due to clothing would perhaps reduce tremendously. However, some school uniforms are rather expensive and they aren't useful outside of school unless the students would prefer to wear it outside.

In school, there are obviously a wide varieties of aspiring students aiming to enter the artistic world where fashion designers, writers, directors, and etc. are living in. School is the place for those students to look at the clothing around them and being able to view what is in the trend, what is not, and what could possibly work. Many students believe that clothing presents their individuality and separates themselves from other people in the crowd. Many students desire intensive attention and aim to be unique so that people could look at them. Many gang members tend to hide weapons under their baggy clothing, however, if school uniforms were to be put into place, the rate of having weapons hidden under particular students clothing would decrease drastically.

As you could clearly see, school uniforms have many cons and pros. Many would view it as beneficial to the student while many people believe that it takes away the nature and individuality of a particular person's character disabling them from expressing themselves physically. Many students would enjoy school uniforms because it looks more professional and it does look rather nice depending on how they look. Many students nowadays aim to look professional and mature; with the help of school uniforms, it could be made possible. Do you think that school uniforms are good for students or are they bad?
Having worn a school uniform for all of my intermediate and high school years, you'd think I'd be against them. In my town, originally colonised by Scots, all intermediates and high schools have a dress code. Girls are to wear kilts, boys grey shorts/pants. The tartan varies from school to school, and the colour of the jersey or blazer does too. It's a way of showing which school you belong to, like wearing a uniform for a sports team it identifies you as 'one of them'. Now, having not been particularly proud of my school I didn't like wearing it, but others sported that uniform as a mark of honour, because our school was particularly good at sports.
In class it put us all on an even playing field, and if you wanted to be recognised in a school uniform it wasn't for your clothes that you were going to be recognised for, it was for your intelligence or your sports prowess, or something amusing you'd done at lunch time. I distinctly remember people being noticed for who they were - and not what they wore.
The school uniform I was burdened with was not particularly pretty - none are - but it saved me from having to choose what to wear every morning and it saved me from being late. Because I know I would've been consistently late had I taken time to choose what I wanted to wear. Now that I'm given the choice at University, I'm consistently late to lectures, as are most people I know. They also put it down to not being able to choose what to wear. That or not being able to find their books - but some things never change.
Although the uniform I wore was expensive, it did last a long time - $400 for the kilt, and about $100-150 for the rest (Jersey, polo shirts, socks and shoes) - from the age of 11 until the age of about 15, I wore that same kilt day in, day out, every single school day excepting those rare days when we paid a gold coin donation to wear what we wanted.
You say that children are picked on for what they wear - yes. I won't deny it. But if they're not picked on for what they wear, they'll be picked on for something else. It's a simple fact of life. They'll pick on you because of size instead, or because of the way you speak, or because you read more than them, because you're more intelligent. They'll find something. It's not just clothing that incites it.
School uniforms can be made to look nice, if you have an ounce of self respect. Certain uniforms are baggy - easy to hide things under etc. But my vote would be that uniforms are good. I miss not having to choose what to wear in the mornings, i miss being identifiable as belonging to a winning school, I miss being recognised for my personal achievements instead of how short my skirt is. I never thought I'd hear myself saying this (or see myself typing it) but ...

Go school uniforms!
I don't like them, personally. I've never had to wear them and I'm quite glad for that. I've never been late because I've been staring into my closest wondering what I should wear. I like the freedom of being able to wear what I want at school and I would hate for that freedom to be taken away.
No matter what "pros" school uniforms may offer, the fact is that imposing them upon the student body is totally inappropriate. How you dress is a form of expression, which even minors have the right to do (*GASP!*). You see, just because they're under 18 doesn't mean that you should disregard this thing called the First Amendment.

Unless the school is a private one, the constitution applies; despite the "in loco parentis" clauses. Let's be fair here, school students are people too, and their personal freedom of expression should be respected just as yours is.
americans are lucky to have the constitution, is has a citizens rights clearly listed, and is relevent, even today. Your government should pay more attention to it.
However, in my country, we have no such list of citizens rights, just the laws of the land, which can be changed to suit the times, and the people who make the rules.
I am anti uniforms in a big way, but am in the unfortunate situation of living in a country where uniforms are becoming the norm. It is no good trying to fight it, they just wont let you go to school, or you risk outcasting your children if you send them in no uniform.
Unifroms have caught on here over tyhe last 10 or so years, mainly die to the people who make the uniforms paying the schools who use them, a percentage of the profits from the sale of the uniforms. Our kids are being used as fundraising machines. There is no benefit to the kids wearing uniforms. There are ugly, uncomfortable, expencive, and in no way do they 'unite' students, stop them compeating in fashion wars or economic class wars.
The only benefit that I can see, is that it is just another way to control and supress an individuals rights to expression, and that only benefits the schools, (power hungry oppressers) not the students.
I now have 3 lovely kids who I have to send to school in uniforms, which thay hate, at great expense to myself. all this rubbish about not having to buy as many clothes is untrue. now I have to buy two lots. Thanks schools!:(
Hopefully sometime in the future, It will be recognised that uniforms are damaging our next generation, and will be disused, like the crap idea that they are.
School uniformed is necessary because it's maintain discipline among the children , some times close becomes statues symbol and every student not affordable it so uniforms overcomes that .
