Hardly any doubt in my mind about who I believe the ideal Republican candidate is at this moment; it's Ron Paul. Evidently, many of his views on certain issues do stray me away from him, although there are many issues that I strongly support. I'm not entirely sure if America is ready for such a drastic change. However, if you think about it, the Democratic candidates two top-runners are Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama; if they were were to become president, it would be a dramatic change for America. For a female or a minority to become the president of the United States, many people would concur to the fact that such a change would change the course of our future.

Now, if Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama has the high chances of being president of the United States of America, why not Ron Paul?

Yes, Ron Paul!
I don't think we need any radicals and that is why I am against Ron Paul. I think that following the Constitution is important, but I also think that it was written 230 years ago and that after a while, things do need to be changed. I think that while he may be someone who is conservative, I think in a nation where there are so many different opinions, you can't have someone who is so incredibly one sided. I think you need a bit of middle ground. But, maybe I am an independent.
If there needs to be changes to the Constitution, that's what Amendments are for.
But the fundamentals of the Constitution remain the same: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Fundamentals in freedom and human rights that must be preserved. Ron Paul only seems radical because he stands for something other candidates lack: honesty, and the will to preserve our rights. The real radicals are Ghouliani and Hillary.
I think on Ron Paul is the best Republican candidate, since he is one of the only Republicans against the war and for limited government.

Are those the only two reasons why you believe he is the ideal Republican candidate at this moment? What about where he stands on other issues such as gay marriages, abortion rights, minimum wages, schools, etc.?
At this moment, yes those are the only two reasons why I believe he's a great ideal republican nominee. But I dont really see him winning the republican primary.

Simply out of curiosity, do you support his stand on the economy and taxes? From inferring that you support his views on limited government, I would think you would agree with him, but I wanted to confirm that you do.

As for others, who is the best Republican candidate in your opinion?
I really liked Ron Paul. He was the Republican I most agreed with.
