Who here is scared of the police and why?

The police in America are nothing to be afraid of. Every once in a while, they go crazy and beat somebody, but they get severely punished for it. If anybody on this thread is afraid of the US police, you should really go to a 3rd world country. I hate to think what you would think of them.....

Why would I be? They're just like us.
Hell, around here they even roll stop signs and cruise red lights like all the rest of Island drivers!

The typical police officer's job and the main priorities in their work field consists of protecting citizen, maintaining peace, using force when necessary, and to ensure that people abide the law. However, imagine if you resided at a place where no police officers were present! Imagine the crime rate and the chaos that would occur.

Some may feel that police officers are unfair simply because a particular police officer treated them with disrespect, therefore they quickly assumed that every single police officer in the world are simply appalling people. Those certain people grimace at police officers in such an ill-mannered way and believe that the mistake of one police officer applied to every single one of them.

you know they play good cop bad cop when investigating someone? i didnt know that until i saw it.

Police are humans too. And humans make mistakes. I'm on the local police advisory council, and it has really helped me to understand the work they do and how hard it is, or how hard it can be.

I have no reason to be scared of the police. My uncles are Detectives/SWAT. I respect them and they're both good men. Like Koishii said, they have a very stressful job. It requires a lot of training and hard work. Personally, I am aiming for my career to be in law enforcement.

I'm not afraid of the police now, but in the future, if we don't hold onto our rights such as Habeus Corpus, etc., the police force could easily be abused.
