Should the United States of America pull their soldiers out of Iraq? Or, better yet, CAN the United States pull their soldiers out of Iraq? Will there be any side effects from the soldiers being pulled out of Iraq? It is feared that if the United States pulls out too soon, the nation will fall into chaos and anarchy. However, people also feel that we should not be there anymore and we should just get their army up and then leave and hope for the best. Should we pull out or not yet?
The soldiers in Iraq are there for a reason or possibly reasons. If the soldiers are pulled out, perhaps the entire country would be turned into anarchy which many people wouldn't desire for. America is currently a superpower and due to that, many people are inclined to look at them to prevent future chaos occurring around the world. Wars obviously costs a lot of lives and a huge amount of money, unfortunately, wars are absolutely necessary! If you've read history, many wars happened simply due to difference of opinions and protecting allies. If we were to pull out of Iraq soon, will Iraq be able to withstand such opposition without help from the United States of America or other countries?
Yea. I agree. I mean, I think America had no right for going into Iraq, yet we still did and at the moment, it would be disastrous if we left. If we leave, all countries will look at us like some monster and Iraq will be full of chaos and anarchy. One of those terrorist groups will come to power, and I seriously think that if we left, somehow the Taliban would get involved...
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. IF YOU DON'T LIKE OUR COUNTRY, GET OUT. Just kidding. I seriously think they should pull our soldiers back. The war is so pointless. I'm ignorant but death is a serious issue. I was reading my local newspaper and a guy that lived in the community died in Iraq because a bomb detonated as he was trying to escape an ambush. :(
I’m Canadian. But we are having the same sort of debate here about the NATO mission in Afghanistan. Should we even BE there? Do the Afghan people WANT us there? Now I imagine that despite the differences in the countries and their individual conflicts that those questions also apply in Iraq. Do the majority of (non-militant or terrorist) Iraqis who were subject to the tyranny of Saddam Hussein, do they mind that the US led war brought him down? I think not. I know Iraqi-Canadians that have told me stores about Saddam. A lady I went to school with. Her mother worked in a “Dairy” making weapons...

Now you can say there is no connection to Saddam and 9/11. And hey, you are probably right. And yeah, maybe the US did do it for oil. But the fact remains that Saddam, a murderer and a tyrant was overthrown. And now he is dead. The people that say Saddam had no WMDs… Maybe not in the sense of nukes… But he was a WMD to his own people. And really, as the leader of a fairly rich country (thanks to oil), there was little stopping him from obtaining WMDs, in the sense of weapons. And that’s what I took from Bush’s speech in March of 2003. That Saddam was a danger to his own people and that he could one day be to the world.

And yes I think that if the US pulled out now, anarchy would ensue. So the US would get blamed for that too. And they don’t need that. I know that this may seem easy for me to say. Canada isn’t involved. But I’m sorry we aren’t. In my opinion, if more countries were, I think it may have helped.
I believe that the United States of America should remain in Iraq. The fact that so many people are comparing this war to Vietnam shouldn't be used to support a withdrawal from Iraq; instead, it should be used as an argument to stay in Iraq. When we turned over the fighting to the South Vietnamese, many of the South Vietnamese felt abandoned and hopeless. The south Vietnamese were not able to fight the Viet Cong because the Viet Cong were supported by multiple nations, such as Russia and China. This overwhelmed the south Vietnamese and almost instantaneously led to turmoil. The same events are happening in Iraq. America needs to learn from its mistake during the Vietnam era and stay and defend the Iraqis. Even though many nations are constantly criticizing and castigating America's involvement, there was a time when nations such as Britain and France criticized America for not entering a war (World War II). Currently, America is being denounced for not intervening in Darfur; however, I believe that if America were to enter and attempt to help, there would be many nations bashing America's involvement. It seems as though there will always be a force that opposes America's decisions and actions, therefore, America must do what it believes is right. For example: After World War II, Russia, Britain and France wanted Germany to pay extreme reparations but the United States saw its mistake from World War I (Germany had to pay large reparations for WWI) and insisted that Germany be rebuilt and assisted instead of hindered. Now, Germany is one of America's greatest allies. The same goes for South Korea, Japan and hopefully Iraq. If America sees its involvement in Iraq through, there is a great chance that Iraq will one day join the ranks of Japan, Germany and South Korea and become a world leader.
Both of my cousins are currently enlisted in the U.S military, and one of my cousins is currently in Iraq as a Sergeant overlooking Apache Helicopters. My other cousin has served one term in Iraq, and gets out of the military in just three months. Now, he is being sent back over for his second term in about two months, and has to serve his full term there, meaning they are extending his military contract and forcing him to stay. He signed up as a cook, and during his first term he spent his day and nights escorting oil refinery workers to check on their precious oil, and if he returns for his second term he is going to be fighting on the streets. Now, I ask that you remember he is a cook. He signed up to be a cook, and will be fighting. During his first term he wasn't even issued body armor, and was attacked several times. I don't agree with this war, and frankly I don't even consider it to be a war. The politicians in charge of our military must have realized that it's too late to keep hiding these things, seeing as how most of the American citizens know of the truth, or are refusing to believe it.

As for Iraq, I do not care about them. Say what you will, but those people are born around war and raised around it. I don't believe they can change, and if we really wanted to establish a democracy and restore order to that country (Baghdad in general) then we would have done it by now.
When a certain country does not want you in, there is nothing you can do about it.
When 9/11 occured, there weren't a lot of people that were in Al Qaeda. When we went into Iraq and started the war, killing many innocent people, somehow the Al Qaeda Network grew.... more than tenfold i'd say.
History Repeats. Trying to interfere in another country without the support of other countries is a disaster. Look at Vietnam. We go in there, the South Vietnamese are happy. When we start burning down villages, taking their land, it became unpopular. [censored], i would sure as hell turn VietCong if my village was burned down and my brothers killed by the crossfire (even though i don't support communism). America will never ever win the war Iraq because it is unpopular there. What we need is an individual group that is secretly sponsored by us and pretends they hate the Americans. By that, we can secretly fund them, and take our troops out, and everybody will be happy, but this way, we have really won the war. Even if there was a draft, all the troops in the US couldn't take out the terrrorist groups in IRaq and win. And even if we did, it would be a complete fiasco, with the US taking over Iraq. That would really make the Middle Easterns Happy ;) . But anyways, we can't pull our troops out either, so idk what's going to happen.
Canada shouldn't pull out of Afghanistan, because the war in Afghanistan is the true war on terror. While I disagree with our troops invading Iraq, we have to stay. Our troops hate it there, but if we pull out it's going to turn into pure anarchy because the people there are wayyyy too lazy and the different tribes are simply going to clash and have yet another dictator in power. Which will eventually cause us to go back and fix it.
Forget Iraq. I want us to be in Darfur.
