Should religion be incorporated in our schools? Should children be forced to pray? Or, should children be given the proper time to pray if they feel fit? For example, should a student be entitled to skip parts of class to pray in a public school? Do you believe that religion and public school should be mixed or do you feel that they should be kept separate?
I think that religion should not be incorporated with the public school system simply because of the abundance of religions in the world. I believe that keeping religion separated from public school is the ideal choice because there's a possibility that if guardians of the child discovers the fact that their child is being forced to pray in school, they would disapprove of the whole situation. There are private schools that teaches certain religions that incorporates their religion into the system which people have knowledge of, therefore they register and allow their child to attend that particular school; for a price. At this moment, it's best to hinder religion in the public school system.
I totally agree with john. There are a lot of religions in the world, and each one should be respected equally. It should be allowed if it is a private school, but not if it's a public school...
I think only Muslim countries do that.....
Well, I don't believe there should be any school system at all, but maybe that's just me...
However, seeing as nothing sane is going to happen about the government controlling every moment of our lives, I think religion should stay out of public school entirely.

Yeah, right, because the government just controls everything, right? That has to be the stupidest statement I have heard yet. Heres the deal [back on topic] there should be no religion in any public school whatsoever. If you want to worship while in school, go to the private schools, that is what they are there for. Equality or no equality, theres a separation of church and state. It was created that way, and thats the way it should stay.
You let students congregate and worship together, and then you find yourself in a gang. Pretty soon the holy wars started outside of the country are in our own schools. Kids will be shot because of their beliefs. And where do the atheists go? Are they just supposed to sit in class and do their work while everyone else goes off to pray? No. It will be uneasy for everyone, so there should be NO religion in schools.

That was a little uncalled for, but OK...
I find it perfectly on topic to mention that the government is gaining more ad more control of our lives, because it directly effects the outcome of the things it touches upon ie. why are our school absolute crap in comparison with other nations schools? Why did FEMA mess up so horribly? Why does Homeland Security dictate different colors for different terrorist levels? It's not just a neo-con thing, it's a Republicrat thing: bigger government protects the people, and if it's not there, you'll die in a terrorist act. The End. And anyways, you mention "congregate"?? What do you want to do, kill off basketball practise because it competes with theater? A little diversity and acceptance, please. And holy wars are begun by ignorance, not by understanding.
You have gangs already formed between people without much of a difference between them, now you bring religion into it and things get more complicated.Everyone thinks they are right, and the teachers can't tell them different because then that would be biased. Jihad would form in the middle school, and soon you'll find crusaders trying to convert everyone. School is hard enough as it is. Take for example at my school, several kids have been beat up and a few stabbed just because one group plays football and one group rides skateboards. We don't need religion to make this worse.
And the government doesn't have anything to do with this topic except for the school. And which is hardly controlled anyway by the state. FEMA has nothing to do with religion in schools.
FEMA is an example of how things controlled and directed by the state are messing up all over the place, and still we send our tax dollars not to hire actual good teachers, but a growing number of not-needed materials.
If they began paying teachers money, then maybe we'd get somewhere, but not whilest employed by the state.
Pay teachers all the money you want, but its not going to change whether or not kids get educated. Thats off the topic though, and I remain by my statement that if religion is practiced in an open enviroment with immature adults, you've got ten Columbines on your hands.
Just heard an interesting fact from my cousin told me... he's a teacher for inner-city kids and he said that 80% of his 8th graders had a 4th and a 5th grade reading level.
If a student is praying with other people at a available free time, it would bring students even closer together. The kids that did Columbine were separated and not dealing with other people, the more students interact on ALL levels, spiritually, mentally, etc., the less likely a Columbine attack would occur, we need some glasnost and perestroika here.
