It has been said that Stem Cell Research could bring about numerous cures to a lot of fatal diseases. It has been said that new organs could be grown from this research. Yet, it has been banned from receiving any government funding. Why is this? With all of these diseases killing thousands of people each year, should we not allow this research to go with the full support of the government? What is your stand on this? Should Stem Cell Research be given funding by the government or not?
Yes, I think money should be given. I mean, if you think about it, so much people would be saved if we could create new organs, and the people giving themselves up for research are willing to do it too. I thought it was a free country the last time i checked, and if we can have assisted suicides for willing people, we could have this as well.
Obviously stem cell research is good.
Stem cell research can be done without injury to embryos.
That can be done, and that should be done.
It definitely should be done.
I look at the worlds population today and the projected estimates for 40 years and I ask my self if are my children and my grand-children going to survive on a planet with 9 billion plus people.
I look at my younger brother who has MS and wish that there were a cure for his disease.
I haven't yet considered the moral and ethical issues of the actual research,
I don't have any answers.
I don't want to live forever, and I won't, of course. I'm just hoping I can live to a normal life span.
I have Parkinson's already, and I am only 46. I support research on Parkinson's and pay my own way with my insurance company.
I wish so badly they would find a cure for this. I have begged in prayer, for a cure. Not for me, as it is too late, but for others who might benefit from a cure. I beg that others will never be afflicted with this.
Parkinson's is an ugly disease.
It's especially hard when you shake, and you have to agree to a breathalyzer test to make sure those shakes aren't because you have been drinking at work.
Then people always have their own theories about why you shake, and there goes your working day, down the drain.
I'm all for stem cell research and all. Wonder why??

Stem cell research is one of those emotional issues, the sort of subject that everyone has an opinion on.
I have to say that I am against it, although I say this only because I assume you refer to embryonic stem cell research, and not adult stem cell research, which I support.
My disagreement with embryonic stem cell research is often deemed hypocritcal, given my pro choice views, and I cannot explain why I am against it, in such a way to be understood.
I have heard much on the issue, and I wish I could say that my views have changed, but alas, they haven't.
I do fully support adult stem cell therapy, however, and I do believe we can take a step foward in curing and managing these diseases and illnesses without resulting to destroying human embryos.

I support both embryonic stem cell research and adult stem cell research. I never hear anyone mentioning adult stem cell research, but I hear people talk about embryonic stem cell research all the time, which I think is kind of odd. The only problem with adult stem cell research v. embryonic stem cell research is that adult stem cells have more restrictions and they are harder to manipulate than embryonic stem cells.
