Cops of the World by Phil Ochs
Come, get out of the way, boys
Quick, get out of the way
You'd better watch what you say, boys
Better watch what you say
We've rammed in your harbor and tied to your port
And our pistols are hungry and our tempers are short
So bring your daughters around to the port
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World
We pick and choose as please, boys
Pick and choose as please
You'd best get down on your knees, boys
Best get down on your knees
We're hairy and horny and ready to shack
We don't care if you're yellow or black
Just take off your clothes and lie down on your back
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World
Our boots are needing a shine, boys
Boots are needing a shine
But our Coca-cola is fine, boys
Coca-cola is fine
We've got to protect all our citizens fair
So we'll send a battalion for everyone there
And maybe we'll leave in a couple of years
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World
Dump the reds in a pile, boys
Dump the reds in a pile
You'd better wipe of that smile, boys
Better wipe off that smile
We'll spit through the streets of the cities we wreck
We'll find you a leader that you can't elect
Those treaties we signed were a pain in the neck
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World
Clean the johns with a rag, boys
Clean the johns with a rag
If you like you can use your flag, boys
If you like you can use your flag
We've got too much money we're looking for toys
And guns will be guns and boys will be boys
But we'll gladly pay for all we destroy
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World
Please stay off of the grass, boys
Please stay off of the grass
Here's a kick in the [censored], boys
Here's a kick in the [censored]
We'll smash down your doors, we don't bother to knock
We've done it before, so why all the shock?
We're the biggest and toughest kids on the block
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World
When we butchered your son, boys
When we butchered your son
Have a stick of our gum, boys
Have a stick of our buble-gum
We own half the world, oh say can you see
The name for our profits is democracy
So, like it or not, you will have to be free
'Cause we're the Cops of the World, boys
We're the Cops of the World.

And when New York City is bombed, or Los Angeles, or Dallas, or Chicago, or Colorado Springs with its ever famous NORAD, will you still be criticizing the government? Count your lucky stars that it hasn't happened yet. You think you know a lot about what the government does? Think that say, President Bush doesn't know what he's doing. Or maybe thats what he wants you to think, eh?
Things go on, things happen that governments don't want their public to know. Because if the public does know, then jerkoffs come in with their cameras and their poetry saying that isn't right. But yet, what they are doing only protects those exact same people. And no, it doesn't protect them from Communism, or Racism, or any other kinds of 'isms'. It protects them from death, pure and simple.

Here's what I have to say in response to what Zack just said. He brings up one good point: the government hides things from us. Would you want to know about Iran actually aiming a nuke at us? It's one thing to say it, but would you want to know that last night, Iran was two seconds from pushing the button? Do you want to know about how we're all about to die? The thing that must be remembered is that sometimes, ignorance is bliss. Sometimes NOT knowing is easier than knowing, especially if it's inevitable.

It protects them from death, pure and simple.
That's profound, I gotta say it... especially after the casualties in Iraq have supassed that of the attacks on 9/11...

I'm talking about Guantanamo Bay. As I've stated before, we have nothing to fear from a sophisticated country. Unless Iran thinks it has the balls to develop nukes and fire them all over the world, then yes, performing exercises in Iranian waters is keeping you alive long enough to tap out a response to my argument.
What I am saying is, while people protest the rights of our enemies and the rights of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, they don't realize that there are hundreds more prisons where we can interrogate and torture enemies without anyone finding out. You just don't hear about those, cause if you did, well the media would be all over. Proclaiming, "Yes those men tried to kill us, but they have rights too!"
And then you would start to worry about your own freedom, when you don't realize that all the government is doing is protecting itself, and which in turn, protects you. You don't have to like your governments, but you do have to understand them.

With spy sattilites and anti missle technology? Don't think so...

Since they can't launch any nuke, and they sure as hell don't have the capability to launch a full scale war, then they should have no problem with us patrolling their waters. Or is there a human rights activist against that, too?

Or is there a human rights activist against that, too? What I mean is that if there was to be an accident, such as the gulf of tompkin incident that sparked the vietnam war, the consequences could be catastrophic. Anyways, if China were to run manuvers in the Gulf of Mexico, would the US protest? Sure as hell we would.
