Sorry bout that,

1. But I understand the use of the term "father" for priests, is a respect word.
2. Priests are the closets thing to Jesus as far as regular people go.
3. They abstain from normal manly pursuits, marriage, property, places of power, businesses, all to serve *The Flock*.
4. They baptise the children, cycle continues.
5. Give first communion.
6. Teach the children.
7. After they are old enough, perform the marriage sacrament.
7. a) And Bless their children.
7. b) And perform funerals.
8. All in all they are fathers, without touching a women, which in a way makes it a perfect mystery, which folds in well with *The Catholic Church*.
9. You have to understand that, these *Catholic Priests* are the most dedicated people on the planet.
10. And sure, I know, *The Devil* tempts them with the young at every turn, so we pray for them to keep strong.
11. Seeing we honor *Jesus'* *Mother Mary* is another way we show respect.
12. Here's an easy way to look at it, don't you as a man want honor to be shown towards your mother?
13. Much more would you expect, *Jesus* whom is, *God* for honor to be shown to, *His* , *Mother*.
14. You can take *Jesus* out of, *The Catholic Church*, but you can't take *Jesus* out of *His*, *Mother Mary"

Hey Chess,

How do you square the father thing with the following admonition from Matthew?

Matthew 23:9-10 Wrote:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

I have many more questions in like regard such as the requirement that priests remain unmarried. Are you aware that bishops as defined in the New Testament were REQUIRED to be married and have believing children?

1 Timothy 3:2-5 Wrote:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

The Bible tells us that ALL Christians are considered priests, not just a certain sect who hold another name (clergy) that is nowhere found in the Bible.

1 Peter 2:5 Wrote:Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

The Bible also tells us that all Christians are saints.

1 Corinthians 1:2-3 Wrote:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:1-2 Wrote:1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 1:7 Wrote:To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

[a) There is no law covering this, would be my answer.
, all laws are passed away, and the *Catholic Church* can instruct its clergy to use common sense.]

I have many more questions in like regard such as the requirement that priests remain unmarried. Are you aware that bishops as defined in the New Testament were REQUIRED to be married and have believing children?

[b) At first, this was what 8Bishops* had to do, as things progressed, things changed, they used common sense, as usual.]

1 Timothy 3:2-5 Wrote:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

The Bible also tells us that all Christians are saints.

[c) Common sense prevailed again, Saints are always departed this life now.]

[d) Called to be, like after death, it could be argued, a Saint, is a person who does, *Great Things Now*, in this life, for Christ, also I would argue, that a Saint, is a person who goes to Heaven.]
