Do you think that mandatory drug testing for students is beneficial?
Do you think that students, preferably in junior high and high school have to take mandatory drug testing so that administrators will have knowledge of who does drugs without medical prescription? Perhaps, it could potentially reduce the amount of teenagers doing and obtaining drugs along with preventing future drug use knowing that schools or medical facilities would have to administer these tests. Although, many people simply dislike the idea stating that the school shouldn't be able to do such a thing to students.
What are your opinions on this and do you think that mandatory drug testing would be beneficial to students?
I don't think it will be extremely beneficial, the students who do illegal drugs will probably still do them, regardless of the principle or dean knowing. I am opposed to this, because this will cost too much damn money. Plus, people already know taxes will go up, because of the national debt, the drug testing will just add up to higher taxes. Instead, we could concentrate in creating a drug awareness and effects month or program type thing that will scare the [censored] out of kids so that they won't do drugs in the future, sure the awareness program will cost some money but it'll be cheaper, won't higher taxes, and will probably be more effective than the drug testing.
A good example of drug awareness or effect program I was talking about is the one they have in Montana. Here is a link to some of the programs commercials http://www.montanameth.org/View_Ads/index.php# it might be a bit disturbing for "some", but even though the commercials were seen as extreme they are still effective. By the way, the guy who made the commercials is the director of Requiem for a Dream.

Do you think that these potential programs would perhaps cease the amount of students doing drugs? Will the smoking company continue to fight? Perhaps. Are we aware of what tobacco could do to us? Some of us do. Will some students stop? In my opinion, no because possibly most of them use drugs to deal with their problems or simply give into peer pressure. If you were to allow mandatory drug testing for students, there may be a possibility that more students will do drugs because they think it's "cool" to rebel against the school system.
