CNN reported the coast guard firing on a suspicious vessel in the Potomac River. Reuters picks it up and puts in on their news wire, then FOX reports it also.
Turns out, it was an exercise.
The 'crisis' lasted from 10:05 to 10:29.
This is just how the media works nowadays. Someone reports bad information, a rumor, what have you, then everyone else uses the original report and second and third generation reports as sources.
Pathetic.
