Thirty years ago, the Khmer Rouge was responsible for the deaths of 1.7 million Cambodians. Genocide, something that the United Nations said would never happen again did happen and so many people died. Now, thirty years after these events, two of the individuals who were high ranking members of this Communistic revolutionary party were arrested for acts of hate against humanity. Do you believe that they should be charged? Furthermore, they were granted amnesty ten years ago by the government. Basically, it means that they're safe. Do you think that they should be prosecuted? Do you think that this amnesty should go through? What punishment should they get? Death? Prisonment? Forgiveness?

Well, I'm not so suprised that genocide has, and will happen, even when the UN says it won't ever happen again.
But, as the Khmer Rouge was one of the most sadistic and brutal regimes in modern history, they should be tried, and live in prison in suffering for the rest of their lives. Death is too easy a way out for these people.
Death is the only way to stop this, Ireland. They should be tried and executed for the horrible genocide that they have committed.

Damn...instead of going to these stupid wars in the Middle East, we could be stopping current acts like this...
Well, how are we supposed to stop genocide?
I'm really talking about from the current Cambodian government, and what they can do. I don't support American troops going into other countries to try to stop genocide, to interfere in the affairs of other countries only spells more foreign entanglements and the doom of this country.
And in response to the call for the death penalty, I think that there is a culture of death, and a lack of respect for human life today. I don't think it would solve anything for the Khmer Rouge leaders to die, after all MANY other soldiers were involved in the massacres as well.
It would seem apt to drive them into the wilderness and let them all die.
They should be sentenced to life in prison, if I had killed just 1 person 30 years ago, the government would not have said "well you have said your sorry so we will not prosecute you"

They deserve to rot in prison for the rest of their lives
Of course they should be tried and if found guilty executed. Genocide is happening right now, at this VERY moment.
