When people die, some believe that they get reincarnated while others believe they go into a society where all the souls rest in peace. If you think about it, you wish one of those predictions after death were real, but what if it's not real?

What if we are living as humans, and doing all of the actions we do daily for no reason? Is life pointless or is there a reason why we do the things we do?

I believe that there is an afterlife, but if you think about it, the laws of equilibrium would be broken. Souls are like energy, and energy can't be created or destroyed. In the case of souls, when a human is born, a soul is created. Reincarnation would answer this question, but there is the case of over population.

So my question is what lies beyond death? LOL!
I'd like to think there is nothing when I die. It would be like a dream less sleep. But, at the same time I just saw this television show about the Tibetan Book of the Dead. I think that kind of looks like a good idea. The basic idea is that there are 3 stages in the after life and you have I believe it was 49 days to complete them. In the first one you are "tempted" by good spirits. In the second, the same spirits look like they are trying to hurt you. And in the third one your sins and good deeds are weighed out with stones by the lord of the dead. I missed something, but if you figure out that the lord isn't there or you pass the test, you get to pick who your parents are at the point of your own conception. I don't know if I believe it, but I think that would be kind of neat. And I'm sorry I don't remember all the details, but I think I got the jist of it.
Everybody has different beliefs. Some parts of science have very controversial topics that aren't fully developed yet. But out of the three major branches of science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics), I would say that Physics would be the most flawed. There have been numerous incidents that have gone against many of the laws of physics: the rules are always changing. For example, I read an article yesterday about two German scientists that supposedly broke what was thought to be the speed of light. I thought that was supposed to be impossible, yet these two German scientists claim to do so...

By the way, most believers of reincarnation believe that you can be reincarnated into an animal or any living organism. Plus, it doesn't have to be on this earth, as it COULD be on another world in a different galaxy far away or something. So that overpopulation thing wouldn't necessarily be true...
I don't know. I don't care. Whatever, if anything happens after I die, it won't matter until that day. There's no point in trying to figure out what will happen. You can't possibly know, not now at least. So why let it affect your life now? It won't change anything. Maybe it will give you peace of mind? But wouldn't have just as much peace of mind in not worrying about it?

Basically, are you implying that ignorance could be a good thing and that it will give you peace of mind? Aren't you the bit curious of what will happen and what the outcome will turn out to be?

No. There's no point in wondering. There's no way that I will ever find out if there is or isn't anything after life until I die.

Ignorance isn't the same thing. Ignorance implies that there is an answer and that you aren't willing to seek it out. There isn't an answer. No one knows if there is anything else. No one, in the entire history of mankind, has discovered anything about it either way. So why are we so concerned with it?
How are you going to know whether your life was meaningless or meaningful?
Sure you could do what you do for the benefit of future generations, but why?
I mean no one is going to remember your deeds or if they do remember, how will you benefit from that?

I think your ignorance is the thing that is going to screw the meaning of life. LOL!
Not knowing and wondering are a part of life. But I think dwelling on death and its outcome could make a person sick with worry. Because until you die you don't know if there is an after life, or if there isn't. Life means something if you want it to mean something. If you do something for society then you not only did something for yourself, but you did something for those to come. And there is nothing wrong with that.
In my opinion - nothing.
We die and go to the worms and dirt.

That simple to me.
When we die, I think everyone ends up in heaven. Some get there quicker than others, but everyone gets there eventually.
