I ran into an article today that piqued my curiosity. It stated:

"Close to half of Americans admit to harboring prejudice against Muslims and negative feelings about Islam, a new study from the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies shows.
The level of anti-Muslim prejudice -- 43 percent of Americans admitted feeling at least "a little" -- is more than twice as high as Americans' reported feelings toward Buddhists, Christians and Jews."

My question is aimed at americans and those who have lived in america pre AND post 9/11.

Do you think there is a general anti-Muslim feeling among non Muslim Americans?
In my own experience in a tiny town in the mountains of western North Carolina, I can say without prejudice, NO.
I cannot speak for the other Americans.
In my town, we care about our neighbors. They are Mexican, black, Muslim, Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, Pagan, you name it. We have Africans, Ukranians, Russians, Poles, Germans, Swiss, Italians, geez...the list goes on.
No one cares if you are Muslim or whatever. You are a neighbor. Our Muslim neighbors are terrific and no different from anyone else. Well, perhaps their wardrobe may be different and their way of worship is different but no one gives a damn about that crap. We are all here in this world trying to make it better...one step at a time.
My answer based on my personal experience is a resounding NO and I do care very much for our dear Muslim neighbors.
They care for us as well, and we have a ton of fun together.
They say we are "cat-lover infidels" and we call them "guinea pig terrorists."
Now, I don't give a damn who you are, that's funny between Muslims and us!

Yes, I am certain of it. Instilled in the back of all American minds in varying degrees. It is a simple distinction to connect terrorism with skin colour or religion. Not to say I agree with it, but it inevitably happens.
