Lately I've been looking into the exotic pet trade, mainly cats. And the tiger is one I like to focus on. White tigers are inbred and not supposed to exist in nature. Yet here in the US breeders and zoos talk about how these animals are going extinct, and how rare they are. Yet most people don't know that they shouldn't exist in the first place. They are born with many problems including cross eyes and cleft pallet. And only one out of every 5 or so born is shown to the public. The rest are too deformed. Other cats are cross bread as well, such as tigers and lions, and house cats with wild Leopard Cats. Now here is my question. Is it right for us to own exotic cats, or even wolf hybrids?
People should stop breeding these animals because they're creating particular animals that have many deformities concerning the eyes, skeletons, organs, and etc. Many of these "majestic" creatures as some may say, are dying imminently after birth, or their life won't be long and fulfilling due to their deformities. Many of the white tigers you see today are chosen from a wide varieties of other deformed white tigers that are suffering and are in pain because some people don't have any use for them because of their appearance. Statistics says that these creatures are close to becoming extinct and that we need to save these creatures; I don't think they should do that because the results of these white tigers are extremely devastating to try and produce one "majestic" creature.
