Mr. Ireland...

Are you saying that the government shouldn't do anything to protect us?
Drop the cops, drop the social security, and drop the Army?
Then why should we have a government in the first place?

Sure gays can marry ceremonially, because like sex, it's between the two people.
But in legal terms, "Marriage" influences everyone around it, in terms of psychological ,fiscal effects, which will influence the way politicians play politics.
I agree with Aksu.

Gay marriage does affect everyone in society. I don't think homosexuals should even be in our society of straight dominance. I believe they should be banished.

So what if they're still humans? They have no right to oppose science and what God has intended humans to do. I say we should banish them from our straight society, and send the homosexuals all to a solitaire society where it is untouched by beings of good thoughts.

Do you really want to debate about what a neurotransmitter is with someone aspiring to become a neurologist? "Neurotransmitters are the chemicals which account for the transmission of signals from one neuron to the next across synapses. They are also found at the axon endings of motor neurons, where they stimulate the muscle fibers to contract. And they and their close relatives are produced by some glands such as the pituitary and the adrenal glands." (Reference found here.) As you can see, it has absolutely nothing to do with the secretion of ANYTHING from your brain. And for the record, your brain doesn't secrete anything. It tells a gland to secrete something. There is no interpretation in the receptors. Interpretation comes in your brain; therefore, it is your brain that determines 'what is good and what is bad.'

Now, I've already stated in a previous post that to be considered life, and I quote from Kathleen Park Talaro's Foundations in Microbiology, Sixth Edition that life is composed up of:

1. Growth and Development
2. Reproduction and Heredity (everyone has DNA, Chromosomes, Genes, and the potential (unless you're impotent to reproduce).
3. Metabolism which includes cell synthesis and the release of energy (ATP).
4. Movement and/or irritability
5. Cell support, protection, and storage mechanisms.
6. The capacity to transport substances into and out of the cell.

That is what LIFE is...The ability to do those things. If you cannot, technically, you're not considered alive. However, let's consider the possibility that those that are unable to reproduce (due to impotence or some sort of disease) are still alive because they possess genetics. Now, you missed my point about the interest in food. You don't like chicken, just hypothetically speaking. It has nothing to do with uranium. My example was your dislike for chicken. Well, does that mean you're wrong? No. It means your brain processes that stimulus different. The same goes for the pheromones for individuals, whether they are homosexual or heterosexual.

Now, here is my FINAL point...You are dead set on the fact that we need to overpopulate this world and destroy it. But, despite that...Let's look at one final point. Is homosexuality alright, then, if, say, the gay male donates his sperm? Well, now he has technically helped someone potentially get pregnant. Is he not reproducing? Sure, it isn't the carnal, lustful sex that we see in pornographic movies between a man and a woman. But, is he not spreading his genetics? And furthermore, what if a lesbian woman buys sperm from a bank and gets pregnant that way? Isn't she reproducing? So tell me something...What's wrong? Why is it that a man cannot love a man because those two can't make a child TOGETHER, but it's okay for some married hetero couples to never have children. Why is that alright? Why do the heterosexuals not have to have children but your argument's point is that homosexuals shouldn't get married because they CAN'T have children with each other. I'm quite confused because as I just demonstrated, a homosexual man can still pass on his genetics due to science today. And a homosexual woman can still get pregnant due to science today. So...What's the problem?

Jacob, I know that you know what a neurotransmitter is, but you are not getting the point. Love is a neurotransmitter. That feeling you get when you are attracted is the neurotransmitters moving from synapse to synapse. Therefore, the receptors that take up the signals for them are screwed up since they are attracted to the wrong things. Also, you are missing the point of the "uranium" thing. Of course, it is obvious that we all have different things that turn us on. Let's use your chicken analogy. Let's say that I like chicken but hate rice, Bob loves rice, but hates chicken, and Joe loves to eat radioactive uranium. Now, obviously, (I hope) you are not going to say that it is perfectly fine for Joe to love uranium; it's wrong and bad.
In addition, I am not "dead set" on overpopulating the world. You are taking the extremes of what I am trying to say. If I wanted to do the same to you, I could say that you are "dead set" on exterminating the human race. I am not that extreme. I am not that conservative to want to kill all gays. All I am simply trying to say is that we should try to make the MARRIAGE illegal. This way, just like illegal drugs, people won't be inclined to do that much of it. Also, Aksu is right about the banks thing. We probably wouldn't have this problem today if it wasn't for those banks...

Seriously, I find this whole topic to be ridiculous. What's wrong is wrong. If a guy is in love with a monkey and gets turned on by the monkey, there is something wrong with him. If a guy gets horny from a tree, there is something wrong with him. I don't see how you guys can accept it when a male likes a male- it's wrong!

In addition, ignore what Magejoker said about the religion thing; it has nothing to do with it.

I'm leaving this debate...I'm arguing with close minded individuals who, in all my years of debating, have actually brought me to the point of pure anger. Never before have I met, even in the most racist and hateful of places, individuals who are so bigoted. I'm honestly disgusted to say I own a site that has individuals who are so against another person's love. I'm disgusted. Like Ireland said...Who are you to deny someone their right to love someone? Who are you to deny someone the same rights a human deserves. Where in the constitution does it say that equal rights goes to "heterosexuals?" It doesn't. It says to all. Homosexuals are people. Now I've known some of the people in this debate since my days on Advice Thread and I never thought I'd see such open minded individuals over there become so close minded over here...I'm amazed. So, that ends my debate here. Enjoy.

PROTECT US??? FROM WHAT, HOMOSEXUALS???
You've got to be bloody kidding me, how is the government to "protect" us from the sexual decisions of willing couples? As I said before, and no one has discussed is, what about people with AIDS? Is the government going to make it illegal to have sex with someone who has AIDS, with or without a condom? The government's role is to represent our political and economic views, not to "protect" us from those who are different from our own individual selves. I'm a Roman Catholic, and it is Roman Catholic doctrine that states homosexuality is a sin. But God gave us free will to do what we please; it's the government's role to step in when we violate someone else's rights, such as murder, theft, etc. The role of government is NOT to be religious police, or to mold the thoughts of others into one non-thinking, enslaved mass. If you want homosexuals kicked out of America, or "our" society, go to Iran. I see they hang homosexuals from cranes there, and place their bodies on display.

Jesus didn't want His teachings FORCED on people, He said give to Caesar what is Caesar's and give to God what is God's. Our government does not demand obedience to it, we demand obedience from our government.

This note is to Mr. Joker:
How dare you say that homosexuals should be banished, or that only straight people can have "good" thoughts. Your demands for a theocratic-style government that represents not the people, but of solely "religious" interests, is an appalling attack upon the very things that this country was founded upon: not Christian dominance, but for the freedom of mankind.
"America is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own." said John Quincy Adams. "O! receive the fugitive, and prepare in time an asylum for mankind." said Thomas Paine. These words express the true foundations of America, why it was created, why you live and breathe in it today. It was through the great sacrifices of wise and enlightened men such as these, who were oppressed and persecuted for beliefs they held, that we live in a prosperous and freedom-loving nation. It would be best if you listened to the advice of these men, and open your mind to the beliefs of others. You will be a happier person, and God will shine His radiance and love for you for every child of His you love and respect, as we are created in His likeness and image.

We're not against love...we're against it in legalistic terms, that we won't recognize it as a legal marriage.

Not protecting us from homosexuals, but the effects of gay marriage. We're not talking about gov banning gay sex, we're talking about not acknowledging them as legal marriages and all it's perks and benefits. I have no idea where you're going with that...

*sigh*... It's not just only Roman Catholic Doctrine to condemn homosexuality, it's the BIBLE (read Romans Ch1, if you know where it is -_-). Any church that does not agree with this is false.

And freewill isn't doing everything you please, It's supposed to be used responsibly. God gave us free will, and Adam and Eve screwed it up, and God punished them. The government's role is to promote morality and general welfare, and gay marriage is an issue within it's extent, and the government DOES (try) MOLD people's minds, no matter how much anyone denies it.

You were right when Jesus didn't want his teachings to be forced, but they are to be followed willingly. If it's followed by force, then it wouldn't make much of a difference than not following it.

On another note... Mr. Joker, banishment might be too harsh...

Also, let me get the history straight, actually this country was found for Christian dominance, John Adams Quincy and Thomas Paine were much later after the Puritans.

And that changed with a little thing called the revolution where our forefathers lifted the chains of slavery off and opted for a democratic country. Maybe if you read Joker's posts, you'd understand where Jacob and I are coming from. If you think the government's role is to promote MORALITY and to MOLD MINDS, then you're sadly mistaken, and separate from what the founders created this government for. It was created for representation, not for controlling the free will and desires of others. Promoting "general welfare" by affecting the private and secluded act of sex by two willing adults is preposterous, against the Constitution, and against the democratic system we enjoy.
Interesting how much time you spend affirming the religious beliefs of myself, and promoting the violation of the Constitution, but you only give one cautionary sentance to a person who has opted for the forced exodus of a certain sexual persuasion...

LOL Jacob. This is a debate forum. When you created this forum you knew there would be views from many points of the political spectrum. We have liberals and conservatives. Some people are just more extreme and have slightly more radical views about things. This forum has diverse views and by ending your debate here you are being a [censored]. If you believe in something that you think is right why not fight for it.

Because there are some people that are taking their 'beliefs' to an extreme that I, in my own opinion, could deem worthy of banning. And because of that, I am stepping away from it. I would rather just not argue with people when they tell me that people I care for are "sick, need correcting, and should be banished and killed." I have people in my life that are homosexual and since this debate has gone back and forth with no gain, I really have no reason to continue it. I'm just surprised that people would say someone needs to die for 'loving' someone. And that's what gets me...So, call me a coward if you want, I'm leaving because this debate has gone back and forth with no gain on either side, so why post the same facts ten times?
I don't want to call you a coward it just kinda fits he definition.Coward: a person who lacks courage in facing danger, difficulty, opposition, pain, etc.; a timid or easily intimidated person.
