Do you think that having students identify their ethnicity on academic tests are fair? Some people believe that it's "racist" simply because the people designing the tests wants to compare the ethnicity rates and how good/poorly people do on some tests. How do you view this? If you think it's fine, why do you think that? If you want it removed, why?
Ethnicity is counted on almost all forms of census, even in the military. It's more for stats keeping than anything. I don't see what the problem is with having it, as no one is saying "oh, this person filled in 'black', lets fail them", or anything. It's just a reflection of what is going on with the testing or whatever kind of survey is utilizing it.
It's not racist. That's ridiculous. How on earth is it racist? It's just for statistics.
I think it is just for statistics. But it sure would be useful information for educationalists to assess how minorities might be helped in the education system (if they are indeed lacking)
