I'm sure you all heard of the story, but here it is for you that don't know. Basically there's this school In Louisiana. There is a tree where usually only white people sit. One day, a black guy sits there with two of his friends. The next day there are 3 white nooses hanging from the tree. The people who did this got caught and were recommended for expulsion but instead got a lighter sentence of suspension for 3 days…..So everyone gets mad and the racial tensions rise in the 84% white town. Soon, some black people get beat up, one got hit on the head with a beer bottle and etc. Once, they had to tackle a white kid down when the white guy tried to get out his shotgun. So then, there comes to this one white kid who starts racially insulting some black people. So the 6 guys go and beat him up. While he is on the floor, they start kicking at him with their tennis shoes. Apparently, in the state of Louisiana, a “tennis shoe” is considered a deadly weapon and they are currently being tried for “attempted murder” by an all white jury. The guy they beat up had some concussions and some bruises in his face.
To me, I think this is total BS and racist. How much white people have done the same and how many of those people went to jail? And here, they’re tried for murder just for kicking a guy with tennis shoes? Supposedly they have some court thing today, but I haven’t really found anything. All I know was that they were each going to be put in jail for 22 years. I’m not sure now… but to me, that’s way too strict compared to what other people have tried doing.
