When you're 18, some people think that, "Oh I’m 18 now, I want to buy a cigarette because I know I have the freedom to do so!"
Then they get hooked on smoking.

I turned eighteen very recently, and I can tell you I didn't buy cigarettes, get a tattoo, rent any 'adult material,' or hit all the hot clubs in town. I have no intention to either. People who do those kinds of things just because "they can" are idiots, plain and simple.

By the time your 21, you realize that that was stupid, and you’re more careful and responsible.

Unfortunately, I don't think so. Stupidity takes a while to wear off, and three years is not going to do the trick in most cases. In fact, stupidity often never wears off. People who are stupid enough to start smoking cigarettes as soon as they can just because they can are going to do the same thing with alcohol when they turn twenty-one.

And trust me, a lot of people drink before they are twenty-one anyway.

Am I psychic or what?

It does not matter where the legal limit/age of any controlled substance is set. Whoever is under the cap will always say 'well if we can do <xxx>, then why can't we do <yyy>.'

You can say what you want, but trust me, I will still say that people should be allowed to drink when they are eighteen when I am twenty-one and above. I don't ever want to drink anyway; it just doesn't appeal to me.
