What is it that you don’t understand? The test of science is not political correctness. There is no arguing with empirical evidence of the facts.
What I find difficult to understand is how anyone cannot be concerned about the environment. Is it not in our own self-interest to see that we do not pollute the air and water - the very elements upon which all life depends - and preserve the land and sea that provides for our existence? Can there be anything more important? And, what about the future? - Can we be so selfish as not to be concerned about the quality of life of our own children and grandchildren? What will be their inheritance? Will they see us as good stewards of that which we only hold in trust? - Or will they curse us for wasting their birthright? Can we be so short-sighted as not to foresee the consequences of our actions - or so callous as not to care? Apparently so.
To suggest that I'm not conserned with clean air and water and air is erroneous and frankly quite offensive.
We do the best job of anyone controlling pollution and if we do make a mess we clean it up.
Look at China, can you say the same about them? No, of course not.
But the GW weenies have gone way overboard by blaming every up or down tick in climate on American corps, a light bulb, and my car.
Gore jumped the shark by predicting Armageddon if we didn't destroy our economy and freedoms. People just don't think that's reasonable.
The sames doomsayers are now complaining about the economy and jobs (despite unemployment being at historic lows, 4.8%).
Confiscatory taxes on companies who employ the majority of Americans in the name of shaping our world's climate is nothing more than a socialist solution to a non-problem, and will further damage our economy in a time where we need more money in the system not less!
The left always makes the case that we are only one major tax hike away from solving all the problems of the world, and people are just getting sick of it.
Hillary wants to "Take" Exxon's profits, to put into some gov energy fund?
What does that sound like to you?
If you really think that adopting Marx's Communist Manifesto as the road map to controlling the weather...you need a doctor.
Interesting. My question is, why haven't we been trying to take care of this planet before now? GW, climate changes, whatever...this is the only planet we have.
So, what's wrong with making corrections and trying to take care of it?
Is there a problem with that?
Purrs,
Pookie
That's not the point of all this...we already do what you suggest and describe.
The goal into punish business, American success, raise taxes, cede liberty to a socialist gov and drive energy costs through the roof all based on a hoax and a scam.
While we're discussing this, people are making a fortune on fraudulent carbon credits, and we're burning our food and livestock feed, ruining the top soil and waterways with harmful run off, crops are not rotated and prices are going up largely due to a product called ethanol which actually adds more pollution than gas, ruins our autos, and costs more energy to create and ship than it produces.
This is what our gov brought us...and you want more of this???
We can't change the weather or climate by adopting socialist Marxist policies.
Can't be done...sorry.
This is witchdoctor shiit!
Heres what I think.
Global warming is a fact.
Humans are not overly responsible for it.
Wwe should clean up our act, not to stop global warming, as that is not our fault anyway, but just to not be so damned poluted.
Governments have a hidden aganda behind the whole carbon credits programme, but thats another debate entirely...
I'll do a my traditional 'cold dance' if it makes you feel any better, but it will have the exact same effect in changing our global climat as any of these other so called solutions.
How about we adapt as humans always have done when the Earth goes through it's natural climate cycles?
The arrogance of some people's anthropocentric view is stunning.
How about we adapt as humans always have done when the Earth goes through it's natural climate cycles?
The arrogance of some people's anthropocentric view is stunning.
Because the world is different than it was then. Back then there weren't nearly as many people, and if a climate change happened tribes could just migrate elsewhere. And it's not like the people back then were always able to avoid death. Many ancient cultures are believed to have died out due to climate change. Would humanity completely die off if a new climate change occured? Very unlikely. But would a lot of people die? Most likely.
But the Earth will cycle through climate changes whether we do anything or not, its just the natural order of things. We could stop burning fossil fuels all together one day and make a giant leap towards preserving our environment however you want, but it wont stop the clock.
It's inevitable, the only argument one could make is that we're speeding things up, but on such a grand scale, we dont have enough control to do so at a noticeable or even significant rate.
Thats my $.02

Errr, they also didn't have the technology to keep themselves from dying that we have now like, oh I don't know...OIL and natural gas, and nuclear power or the ability to run a simple combustion engine.
Let me clue you in... there was never a utopia and there will never be one.
We still have the ability to adapt (the key to survival) and one of the ways we do that is through technology, and the fuel to power it.
Would humanity completely die off if a new climate change occurred? Very unlikely. But would a lot of people die? Most likely.
What???
NEW climate change???
Contrary to what you seem to believe we cannot control the weather through punishing American capitalism, freedom, and installing Marxism like the neolibs want to do.
Believing that the communist Manifesto is the road-map to harnessing the unfathomable complexity of our climatological system is sheer insanity.
This has nothing to do with climate...it is all a radical leftist political agenda.
Plain and simple.

Of course we have much more technology than people used to have, but it's not like every country uses this technology anyway. Thousands of people die every year from things such as Malaria which can be easily cured. It will be the poor in under developed countries that would be the first to take the toll of a huge climate change. And the world is a complex, balanced ecosystem. When that balance is disrupted, there are huge consequences. Humanity has shown again and again that the consequences of a change in any ecosystem has effects greater than originally thought. Technology can't solve everything.
What???

Let me tell you, I don't give a damn about keeping the oil companies rich if that means we're going to endanger the lives of thousands or millions of people. Even if global warming is not happening as a direct result of car emissions and the like, there is no way anyone can prove that the car emissions are not harmful. Scientists and doctors can tell where people lived during their lifetime just by looking at their lungs. A person who lives in a rural area has much cleaner lungs than a person who lives in an urban area, because the person who lives in the urban area breathes in smog 24/7. The only relief for smog is if it rains, but that doesn't solve the problem either, because then the pollution comes down as acid rain. So what are we going to do? Are we going to wait until air pollution is even more of a problem and are we going to take the easy way out by passing this problem on for generations to come? Or are we going to do the right thing and stop this issue before it becomes a huge problem and solve it today so that the future generations don't have to worry about breathing clean air?
And what if global warming is happening, regardless of whether it's happening because it's a natural cycle or not? Are we just going to lie down and try not to fight it? Just say, "Oh well, people will adapt to it, even if that means a lot of people will have to die"? Or are we going to try to do something to help slow/reverse the process? Scientists know that the thicker an atmosphere is, the hotter the planet is going to be. That's a scientific fact. And we know that car emissions put greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Maybe global warming will happen anyway, but it would at least help to not add one bit to this problem. How pitiful would humanity appear if we did nothing and just watched it happen!
You like to talk about conservatives and liberals, and say that liberals are "Marxists." Well, I'm saying that the conservatives who support not doing anything about global warming and/or CO2 emissions are looking out for rich people and not people. But guess what? Global warming and air pollution aren't going to care if we're rich or poor, conservatives or liberals -- it's going to target everyone.
And what if global warming is happening, regardless of whether it's happening because it's a natural cycle or not? Are we just going to lie down and try not to fight it?
Fight it how, by taxation, growing Govt, punishing American industry and installing freedom-sucking socialist policies?
This is how we save the planet?
The planet has done a good job saving itself for all this time without enacting any of these "solutions' the GW alarmists are proposing.
