Be careful what you claim.

Global warming is a fact. The overwhelming scientific evidence...

What's overwhelming is the amount of money being poured into shody scientific theories and scientists are making bank over it. It's like tobacco research done by the cigarette companies. They have an agenda. Often they are paid to "prove" and "research" man-made global warming.

At least you pointed to an interesting article.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Global Warming.... aka SCAM!!
Another transparent liberal agenda which appeals to emotion rather than logic. 30 years ago we were told the Ice Age was coming. Now they want us to believe we will fry. What a load of crap!! Unreal

Quote:
The Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine this week announced that 31,072 U.S. scientists signed a petition stating that "… There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will cause in the future, catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate..."

Enough said

This is how we save the planet?
The planet has done a good job saving itself for all this time without enacting any of these "solutions' the GW alarmists are proposing.

No, all we have to do is invest in finding the best alternative fuel we possibly can and actually seriously commit to doing it. And in the meantime, the government should encourage people as much as it can to make eco-friendly decisions such as buying hybrid cars. People should be given tax breaks for doing those kinds of things, and they should be given nothing for buying fuel inefficient cars such as Hummers. Instead of penalizing, the government should reward companies and individuals who help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Global Warming is, infact happening. But it's not nessesarly the humans fault. Global Warming, in my opinion, is not something to worry about though. Global Warming is a natural cycle of the Earth, just like forest fires. It has happened before. Our world survived then, and it's going to survive now.

Very good!
What you propose is actually somewhat Constitutional.
Tax policy is often used to infuence behavior...behavior based on a hoax not withstanding.

If you want to by a hybrid,
guess what?
Companies would make them.
Guess what?
They do...lots and lots of them!

But you don't tell me that I have to.
If I want one I will buy it, and the way the agenda driven, leftist/Dem energy policy is choking off our supply...we may all be driving our John Deere to work.
If one lets the free market work, we will have the freedom to drive what we want without huge taxpayer subsidies.

What I disagree with are things like subsidising gargantuan inefficient, costly, un-sustainable, economy-busting and harmful forms of energy...such as ethanol. Burning our food to do the work of what gasoline was designed to do, will go down as one in history as one of the brainlessly- stupid, economically-shortsighted, inefficient, harmful, selfish, and heartless idea we ever had.

Do what you want...for whatever the reason...even if you think you're preventing earth shattering floods, saving all of us from spontaneously combusting, hoards of locusts, and saving every cute cuddly sympathetic creature on the planet that you can sell to fifth-graders...go at it. Nobody is stopping you.
Just don't make me do it too.
That's the difference, you want me to subsidise your choice while at the same time denying me mine.
How is that fair?

Rep. Markey (dem) Chairman of Global WarminG Comittee is going to introduce a bill which basicly auctions emissions at a price set by the gov't. So it looks like we may be forced into this lefty scam afterall. Free-market be damned.

Cap and trade?
I'm familiar with it.

McCain is one of it's sponsors.
For a Republican he sure sides with radical leftist policies.
I wish we had Reagan back. He would tell these Marxists where to stick their carbon credits.

Yes, they do, especially now with the way gas prices are. The demand for more fuel-efficient cars is greater than ever due to the rising gas prices.

Unfortunately, you're right; ethanol will never work. We simply can't fuel the whole world with food such as corn, even if we completely took it off the market as something you can buy to eat. Hydrogen seems more promising to me once we tweak the problems with it such as refueling time and the cost of making hydrogen cars. But as of right now, that won't work either.

No, you can do what you want. You can not buy eco-friendly products if you want, but what I'm saying is that the government should give tax breaks to people who do. If someone goes into a car dealership and buys a gas-guzzling vehicle, then that's fine, but the government shouldn't give that person much of a tax break for that. If someone goes into a car dealership and buys a fuel-efficient car, then that person should get a large tax break. Though perhaps this won't even be necessary due to how the gas prices are. I don't see why anyone would want to buy a gas-guzzling car today anyway, since a gallon of gas costs $4.00+ in some areas of the country.

We already do that.
I know for a fact that states have huge tax-breaks for buying a hybrid.
That's ok but I think the Feds should keep out of it.

The Lieberman-Warner Bill is also on the floor as we speak. Don't forget Obama introduced the Global Poverty Act and it passed the House and soon to be on the Senate floor. How many of you treehuggers want to donate $8500 yr. to the cause? I didn't think so........

McCain is a traitor and an imposter. I sent him a little love note a while back. As of yet, I have no response.

I wish we had Reagan back too. He was one of the greatest! BTW, you nailed it.... Marxists!
