Many people believe that evolution is simply false and a fraud trying to "educate" students on wrong information swaying them away from creationism. Evolution, which is opposing creationism is being taught in schools which many people are still angry about. The controversy between creationism and evolution has been put on trial which is known to many of us as the Scopes Trial in 1925; supposedly, John Scopes was arrested for teaching evolution in school. How do you feel about educators teaching evolution in school if many students still oppose the idea and continue to insist on not believing it therefore they give themselves the excuse of not learning it? How will it affect them and the school system?
It should be taught in school. If a student doesn't believe it that's fine. But if they decide to be close minded and not do the work, then they should be graded appropriately. If someone listens and still doesn't agree then that's fine, but schools should at least teach it. Most people know the basic information about Creation. And in my experience, the people who get really mad over evolution are the ones who know the least about it.
I think that evolution should be taught. If the students decide to not believe in that, that's fine - they don't have to. My first biology teacher started off the class by telling everyone that everything in science is a theory and that science changes. There are no facts in science. If students are too stubborn and refuse to do the work/take the class even then because they don't believe in it, then that's their problem.

These people who kick and scream about evolution really are afraid of learning about it, in my opinion, so they would rather cover their eyes and plug their ears.
Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection has been established by proof based upon empirical evidence and verified by genetic experimentation on plants and animals, and overwhelmingly accepted by the scientific community. Contrast to this are the claims of “Creationists” paraded as science under the rubric of “Intelligent Design” that is based on the assumption that life was created, which, of necessity, presumes the existence of a “Creator.” Such argument is mere speculation and inconsistent with scientific method, for it is nothing more than a presumption that is not evidence, much less proof. The same arguments and challenges to evolution advanced by the proponents of “Intelligent Design” were proved to have no support in the scientific community and ruled to be religious doctrine and not science. See Tammy Kitzmiller, et al. v. Dover Area School District, et al., 400 F.Supp.2d 707 (M.D. Pa. 2005). To posit creationism as a theological explanation is one thing; but to posture it as science is unsupportable if not outright dishonest, and only reflects discredit upon religious belief.
Evolution should only be taught in science classes and that's it. There should also be other religious choices. No matter what you think, evolution is a religion of it's own.

Darwin had some good points, but his theory also has many holes. He himself admitted that. The thing that really bothers me is that evolution is forced upon the education system, and if you challenge it, you are ridiculed and criticised. Last time I checked, a theory was not fact.

Many of those holes have been filled in over the past 150 years though. A lot of the best evidence for evolution came around after Darwin was long gone.

No, a theory is not a fact. But science doesn't hold words like fact, hypothesis, and theory the same way the rest of society does. A theory is the highest label an idea will ever get in science. Facts aren't held up nearly as high as theories are. Facts are just little pieces of observed information, whereas theories are the combination of many facts, ideas, and observations. Theories > natural laws > hypotheses > facts. Nothing will ever be confirmed as true in science, but evolution is as close as anything will ever get.
