No Country For Old Men
Pretty entertaining flick, except for the last 15 minutes.

RE: No Country For Old Men
I agree-I enjoyed the movie except for the ending-I can think of several better ways it could have ended.

I love the Cohen brothers and was sad to miss this in the theatre. I will be renting it asap. They never imho disappoint.

RE: No Country For Old Men
I've been wanting to see it, too. Seems like every movie I want to see I finally see it a year later and tell everyone about what a great movie it was. Then they all yawn at me and go, "Geez, Pookie, that's old news. Come up with something new, willya?"
LOL!! But it's true.

Pookie

RE: No Country For Old Men
Actually, my wife thought the most exciting part of the movie came when I turned around and said in a loud voice...."HUSH!" to the four people sitting behind me who were talking incessantly from the beginning of the movie. It worked!...and they did STFU!

RE: No Country For Old Men
I just finished reading "The Road" which is the same author. I actually didn't even know that until 1/2 way into the book and I read the back jackets "Author's Other Works" section. The Road was GREAT. I am now thinking to read the book before seeing the movie. I am a big reader.

RE: No Country For Old Men
I love to read, too. I loved the book "The Hunt for Red October," and when I saw the movie, I thought, "That's all?"
LOL Easy...don't you hate it when these idiots in theaters won't shut the heck up? Grrrr.
I need to find "The Road." Someone at work told me it was good.
Then again, I'm one of those really boring people who thinks the best book I ever read was "War and Peace."
LOL!

Pookie

RE: No Country For Old Men
Books are rarely (1%) translated well into film. The only books imho that I have seen translated VERY well were Fight Club (which is written as nearly a screenplay to begin with) and Lord Of the Rings and that's because Jackson was brilliant. I am still flabergasted at how well he achieved the feel of the books.

Do you have a favorite book or series? Mine is the Dune books by Frank Herbert. Seriously I could start a religion based on his work.

RE: No Country For Old Men
Yes, actually, I have several. Clive Cussler's books, Tom Clancy's books, are favorites of mine. I love the NUMA stuff, and Clive Cussler is simply fantastic. I got to meet him once. If Tom Clancy were to run for President, I'd vote for him.
Also, Sara Paretsky's series, and Patricia Cornwell's books are neat, too.
On my more female side, I love cat books like "The Cat Who" by Lilian Jackson Braun and the Joe Grey mystery series by Shirley Rousseau Murphy. You all know I'm a cat freak, so that is no surprise. Talking cats! YAY!
I'm also into poetry, and that would probably bore all of you to death LOL!
But reading is my passion; it's why I wrote a book. There is nothing like picking up an excellent book and losing yourself in the plot and characters. There are so many excellent authors out there and I possess the most powerful, wonderful tool:
My library card.
And boy, do I use it a LOT.
Purrs,
Pookie

RE: No Country For Old Men
Well..watched the film and I loved it. I can see why some wouldn't like the ending but imho it was superb. When you watch a Coen Brothers film you have to look at it from a different perspective knowing that what they are trying to achieve is different.

I plan to watch the movie again in a week just to take it in better.
