Biden, Obama helped keep 'Bridge to Nowhere' alive
You cannot make stuff like this up, the hypocrisy is maddening.

DEWEY BEACH, Delaware (CNN) -- Although Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden routinely mocks his Republican counterpart, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, for her onetime support of the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere," Biden and his running mate voted to keep the project alive twice.

Both Biden and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama voted to kill a Senate amendment that would have diverted federal funding for the bridge to repair a Louisiana span badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina, Senate records show

And both voted for the final transportation bill that included the $223 million earmark for the Alaska project.

The thing is, the bridge was SUPPOSED to be headed for the island on which an airport was stationed. It was certainly a good idea.. It just lacked funding and support... Just like the Iraq war.. Until we found out there really wasn't nukes in Iraq.

Did anyone actually believe there were nukes in Iraq... lol... Sorry Pericles i just find that really funny. If im not mistaken the weapons of mass destruction that you refer were not nukes but skuds and bio etc? And I do believe it was the cia that sold them those in the first place when Iran and Iraq were at war. If im not mistaken the Yanks backed both sides and armed both. And the chemical ones of course that Saddam used were also supplied by Yanks.
So the whole thing has always had a bad taste in my mouth.
I wonder how much this will stir the pot? As most here appear to be from the US?

The Bush propaganda had most of us in America convinced. But we shouldn't digress.

The Iraq war was a bad example... But you get my point. It really should have been finished, but nobody had the money to get it done.

What about Vietnam then. Or Cambodia? All good examples of US superiority.

Another foot-in-mouth situation --- I mean, how big of an issue is this, really, if mocking Palin wasn't involved?

That's true. But sometimes when voting for something, let me ask this: Do they really read this stuff? And did they KNOWINGLY pass it KNOWING there were earmarks?
Probably not.
You're given a 500-page issue, with 2 days to review. Who has time to read a 500-page book in 2 days?
